In May 2004 Andreas Mayer, celebrity chef from Munich, a student of Eckart Witzigmann and who has won several international awards, took over the kitchen management at Schloss Prielau. His cooking skills have been rewarded with numerous awards from international gourmet guides in a very short time: 2 stars from Guide Michelin, 2 toques / 16 points from Gault Millau 2016, 92 points from AlaCarte 2016, Restaurant of the Year 2011 from Bertelsmann, Chef of the Year Austria 2007 and much more.

Andreas Mayer has been intensively studying vegetarian and vegan cuisine for years.
“Vegetarian cuisine is simply more than“ leaving out meat & fish, I try to compensate for the flavors of fish and meat, which are missing in my green menu, with aromatic herbs, crunchy vegetables and aromatic sauces and essences. This is how I always find new and exciting dishes. Vegan and vegetarian is anything but boring, it is a healthy, light and conscious way of life! "
